Generic Centronics Slats
Here's some pictures of some new generic Centronics Slats. The new ones come unmounted. I went to Home Depot and bought a 2'x4' 1/2" piece of particle board and had them cut it into 6" wide pieces. I drilled some holes to use for mounting/or zip ties and spray painted them black. I've ordered some 1/4" #4 nylon spacer/standoffs from amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000FP9YW0) but they haven't come in yet. The spacers in the pic are a little big.
You either need spacer/standoffs or you will need to route out an area to mount the sides flush. The screws from the bottom of the board come down about 1/4".
In these pics, you can see that the new slats are an almost exact clone of the slats from Ace Pyro.
Note: I don't believe these Generic Centronics Slats are still available for purchase.
The connector pins are slightly larger on the Ace and they solder the entire connection area. The screws are also a little shorter.
Even with the longer screws, the new slat would fit flush in the Ace pyro backing.
I'm mounting the new slats onto 1/2" particle board with 1/4" spacers. (I've got smaller ones on order than are in these pics.)
Here's what they look like with the smaller spacers:
There's still a little clearance between the slat screws and the board:
The last thing we need is the Centronics Bail Locks to lock the cable on. I thought Fry's had these, but they are the wrong size.
Here's a picture of what you want and what Fry's has.
