Cobra Control Panel - Amazon tablet

Note: This info was from when the Control Panel just came out. So some of it might be dated.

Here are some screen shots of the Cobra Control Panel on cheap Amazon Fire 7 tablet.

I actually returned the tablet as it had a dead pixel and it's image resolution and clarity were not very good.

The Amazon Fire 7 tablet retails for $49.99 and goes on sale for $39.99 and even sometimes as low as $35. They had to cut some corners to get such a low price point.

The display resolution and clarity seem to be affected the most. It is only 1024x600 pixels. Many of the other models are a little better at 1280 x800.

Ironically the 2014 HDX versions had even better resolutions at 2560 x1600.

You can see the resolutions for all the Amazon Fire tablets on the following page:

https://developer.amazon.com/appsandservices/solutions/devices/kindle-fire/specifications/01-device-and-feature-specifications

Looks like that URL is dead. Here's an updated one:

https://developer.amazon.com/docs/fire-tablets/ft-screen-layout-and-resolution.html

I thought it might be nice to have a cheap tablet that I wasn't paranoid about damaging to use with the Control Panel. Cobra lists some supported tablets on the website. That list includes a "Dragon Touch A93" which is also a 1024 x 600 pixel tablet (Noted on the page as a lower resolution/affordable option.)

So in theory, this 1024 x 600 resolution is supported. It seems like it works for the basic functionality. I suspect the resolution might be limiting for future features that the Control Panel might add.

My main issue with the Amazon Fire 7 tablet, is that it couldn't display that 1024 x 600 pixels clearly. The smaller numbers just looked a little off/distorted. The same screen capture looks fine on my laptop.

Perhaps these screen captures can be viewed on other 1024 x 600 devices so you can see how clear/unclear readable they are on other devices.

I think I'm going to look for a higher resolution tablet.
